Fulong Beach is located next to Fulong Village, at the mouth of the Shuang River, in the district of Gongliao, New Taipei City. Fulong is often visited in the summer by residents of Taipei, because it is easily accessible from the city. Fulong is one of the most popular beach destinations in northern Taiwan.
The sand on the beach is golden, a rarity for Taiwan and attracts visitors from all over the island. Sand sculpture festivals are held every year at the beginning of the summer.
The Shuang River divides the beach into two areas that are connected by the Rainbow Bridge (橋). The outer part is essentially an island whose size varies depending on the river and the tide.
The entrance fee for the beach is NT $ 100 and includes use of parking and beach facilities. Chair, umbrella and other accessories can be rented from suppliers. For an additional $ 87 NT, you will receive the Golden Fulong package, with a Biandang lunch box (便當) and an unlimited shuttle service between Fulong and Ruifang () via Jiufen (). A recommended schedule for the day is the train journey to Fulong, lunch and the beach. Later in the day the shuttle will take you to Jiufen. From there you can easily return to Taipei or continue to Keelung (基隆) and the night market of Miaokou.
There is also a free public beach just south of the temple. For tourists, it is recommended to visit the private beach, entrance fees with extra equipment.
Many visitors ask how they come from Taipei to Fulong. Fulong is easily accessible by train from Taipei Main Station.
Fulong is famous for its packed lunches (known in Chinese as biāndāng or in Japanese as a bento). The original Fulong Biandang is known and imitated everywhere in Taiwan, just outside the station on the left.
Every summer Fulong organizes the Hohaiyan Rock Festival (寮 國際 海洋 音樂 祭), which takes place every year in July.
Rent a bike and explore the region! Just in front of the train station is a bicycle shop where you can rent a bike for the day. Prices are NT $ 100, depending on quality, age, etc. cycling. Driving on a beautiful day on the northeast coast is a great way to explore the natural beauty of the coast.
Take a trip to the old Caoling railway tunnel. After leaving the station, turn right to enter the tunnel. After 10 minutes of cycling you will reach the east coast with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and breathtaking views of Turtle Island (島). Although the tunnel is lit, take precautions, turn on your lights and let others see you approaching.
